 “We’re Mark, an architect and project designer with Crux Studio, offers an example of the need to stay looking at using plastic lumber on a building, and it’s presenting some problems with the city, because it’s a new product and there are not yet the right report number to prove that it’s viable. We get feedback [from the subcontractors] like, ‘geez, how do we nail this plastic lumber? It’s not wood. What do we do?’ I tell them to find out, call the manufacturer, and talk to them. The plastic lumber nails and cuts the same way as wood, and it’s recyclable.

“There’s a learning curve for everybody. We’re using cork flooring in a project. Cork has been around forever, but a lot of installers haven’t installed cork, so there are concerns. We’re using some resin plastic fencing material that’s a little out of the norm,” he says, “and anything out of the norm will ruffle feathers. The architect has to warm everyone up a little bit to the idea. And the general contractor has to too.” The mindset clearly has to change, says his, “Because green building has become almost the norm. It’s becoming so prevalent that these guys that were unwilling to change are not going to get the work.”

ü  Economic - Improve economic development through technology.
ü  Social - Improving quality of life for all. 

Objectives 

·        To reduce the rate of energy consumption while increasing economic development.
·        To assist in the growth of green technology industry and its contribution to the economy.
·        To increase the capacity for innovation in green technology development and enhance competitiveness in Green Technology in the arena.
·        To ensure sustainable development and conserve the environment for future generations.
·        To increase public awareness and education on green technology and encouraging the widespread use of green technology. Key Sectors The progress is significant and major improvement in the following four key sectors:

i) Power Sector 

ü  Energy Supply Sector: Application of Green Technology in the power generation and energy management, including the generation of joint (co-generation) in the industrial and commercial sectors.
ü  Energy Sector Application of Green Technology in all sectors of energy consumption and energy demand management programs.
ii) Building Sector: The adoption of green technology in construction, management, preservation and destruction of buildings

iii) Water and Waste Management Sector
ü  Adoption of Green Technology in the management and use of water resources, sewage treatment, solid waste and garbage disposal areas and

ü  Expansion of local SMEs and SMIs in Green Technology for the global market

ü  Application of Green Technology in the culture of Malaysia.
